Major Malibu art exhibits coming up

Malibu Art Association founder M. Marjorie Knowles will be honored at an exhibit opening on Oct. 4.

On Oct. 4 at 5 p.m., the Malibu Art Association will hold an opening reception for its art exhibit, “Memories and Appreciation.” The exhibit will honor MAA’s founder M. Marjorie Knowles. The event will take place at My Frame Gallery, located at 3838 Cross Creek Road.

The show will feature oil, water color, acrylic, pastel, photography and mixed media art from approximately 30 member artists. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the art will help fund college scholarships for talented Malibu High School students. The artists, along with wine and appetizers, will be at the event.

The show will continue through Nov. 1. The hours are Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Oct. 9, the association will hold an opening reception for its juried art exhibit, “Colors, Colors, Colors” at the Emeritus College Gallery, located at 1227 Second St. in Santa Monica. The reception will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The show hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Member artists will donate a percentage of sales to help fund college scholarships for budding artistic talent. The event will feature oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, photography and mixed media art from approximately 25 artists.
