Teachers and kids from the Children’s Creative Workshop visited the Wishtoyo Chumash Village on Wednesday, Nov. 29. The kids were able to “experience” a variety of activites, including grinding acorns into a meal, grinding colorful rocks into paint, playing in a tent (built to resemble a Chumash “ap”) and pretending to gather foods as the natives did. They also sang the Chumash welcome song on the field trip. Prior to the field trip, the children were learning about Malibu’s native people.
