This is the 99.1 FM KBUU News for Saturday. Filed at 8 am PST.

    No fires in Malibu.

    Skirball Fire is essentially out.

  • Thomas Fire a monster.
  • Heavy super-smoke-smog may return this afternoon.

This is Malibu’s Only Local Daily News.

This is the Saturday morning edition of the news … for Saturday morning … from Radio Malibu …. 99-point-1 … KBUU News.

Good morning …. I’m Hans Laetz reporting.

No Fires Near Malibu Saturday Morning

NO FIRES OR CLOSURES IN MALIBU.

RED FLAG WARNINGS UP FOR MALIBU thru Sunday night.

Air is clearer this morning but coastal winds could bring more smoke-fog.

A huge loomup of smoke north of Ventura this morning is blowing SW out to sea, and will cool and then blow down the coast towards us.

A return of super-smoke-fog today is likely.

This will bring brief interludes of very heavy … nasty smoke.

Similar to yesterday …when it prompted several calls to 911 and some unwarranted severe worrying on the social media.

City officials put out a news release yesterday to caution Malibu residents about Pulse Point.

That is an internet app that allows the public to see 9-1-1 calls as they are dispatched.

The problem is … Pulse Point does not show that the calls are cancelled when and if a fire truck returns to station after finding a false alarm.

And that happens 95 percent of the time.

The city is asking the public not to assume that Pulse Point notifications are verified … because they are not.

An experienced hand at fire scanners will tell you … 95 percent of fire dispatches come up with minor incidents … not worthy of attention from the public.
