A body found at Corral Canyon Beach on Monday afternoon, March 11, has been identified as 42-year-old Miguel Guardado Jr.
He died of a gunshot wound to the chest, per case information from the LA County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office. The death has been ruled a homicide.
The LA County Fire and sheriff’s departments responded to “reports of a deceased person on the beach,” according to Lt. Mendoza with the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station. The body was located “by the rocks,” she described in a phone call with The Malibu Times.
Sarah Ardalani, a spokesperson for the coroner’s office, said the man was pronounced dead on the scene at 2:15 p.m. A spokesperson with the fire department confirmed the 42 year old was “DOA”—dead on arrival.
The body was found in the vicinity of 25653 Pacific Coast Highway, near Corral Canyon Road.
Mendoza confirmed staff from the LA County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office arrived on the scene later in the afternoon and took the body.
Details surrounding the homicide, including any suspect information, remain unknown as of Thursday, March 14.
