My name is Cheryl Reynolds and I used to live at 2906 Seabreeze Drive. My home and all of my belongings burned down in the Corral Canyon fire on Nov. 24. I lived there for 27 years.
On Jan. 16, when I was bringing my brother up to the house (site) to finish the clearing of the property at 6:50 a.m., we encountered a gas truck parked in the very middle of our one lane bridge. I could not believe my eyes. As the cars were lining up behind the stop sign leaving Corral Canyon and I was entering into the canyon, this gas truck driver proceeded to set his brake, get out of his truck and drag a hose across the bridge so that he would be able to fill the gas tank of the excavator sitting on the side of the road, a job that takes about 10-25 minutes. Needless to say, I immediately got out of my car and started yelling at him to move his truck. The truck driver then proceeded to remove his hose, drag it back across the bridge and then moved his truck off of the bridge, which took another 10 minutes.
The reason I am bringing this up is I would like to know who is in charge of this bridge mess at the bottom of the hill? Here is another situation where if the gates to the RV park or Daniel Forge’s property were unlocked, we could have used that to get in and out, but they were locked! Here is another instance of this bridge causing problems for the residents of Corral Canyon. Why is there not someone there to take care of this situation? How many more homes and lives have to be ruined because someone in the City is not paying attention to what is really going on.
I can’t tell you my disgust with the way this project is run. Not only did I lose my home because there were no firemen in El Nido, but I could have lost my life just waiting for them. Then, to find out that the exits out of Corral Canyon were blocked, it just boggles my mind. Now, almost seven weeks later, the gates are still locked while some numbskull parks in the middle of the bridge.
