Those wishing to comment on the Draft Environmental Impact Report for the proposed Crummer Site Subdivision project have until Monday to do so. The 45-day review period of the project, located at 24120 Pacific Coast Highway, began April 3 and ends May 20.

The proposed project would build five luxury homes on a lot neighboring Malibu Bluffs Park, known as the Crummer Site Subdivision. The Draft EIR found the housing development would have minimal negative effects on the environment.

The biggest impact, according to the report, would be increased traffic congestion at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Malibu Canyon Road, should ballfields be constructed on a 1.74-acre parcel the owners of the Crummer site have agreed to donate to the city for active recreation uses.

Opponents to the project believe it would be a burdensome view obstruction, while local Native American groups believe the site requires further cultural resource examination.

Hard copies of the Draft EIR are available at Malibu City Hall and the Malibu Public Library. It can also be viewed online at malibucity.org. All comments on the project can be submitted to Associate Planner Ha Ly by email at hly@malibucity.org or by mail to City Hall, 23825 Stuart Ranch Rd., Malibu, CA 90265.
