A former Pepperdine student was struck by a vehicle and critically injured while jogging this morning along Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.

Former student Michael Ben James was jogging in a bike lane around 3 a.m. when a vehicle crossed the lane and hit him near Webb Way, according to Sgt. John Skikas of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriffs Station

“The driver of the vehicle struck the pedestrian in the bike lane,” Skikas said. “The driver was arrested and more information should be provided later this afternoon.”

James was airlifted out of Alumni Park and is currently at UCLA Medical Center. 

“The victim is currently listed in critical/stable condition,” according to Sgt. Johnson of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriffs station.
