Longtime Malibu resident Charlou Larronde celebrated her 91st birthday Jan. 15 at a birthday party in Malibu. Attendees included her daughters Janine Larronde of Oak Park, Kristeen Larronde of Malibu and Nita Larronde of Pie Town, N.M. along with 60 other family members and friends.
Larronde and her husband, Jim, built their house on Carbon Beach in 1951. At the time, it was just the fifth house built on the beach.
