Walt Keller did not want Kanan Dume Road reopened after the roadbed failed making it inconvenient for residents to access Costco and businesses in Thousand Oaks and Agoura. Walt says that he wants ball fields for our youth. However, Keller and Van Horn turned down an offer from the state of California Parks giving Malibu all 94 acres of the site known as Bluffs Park. This was shortly after the incorporation of Malibu.
From the early 1970s to 2004, I have never witnessed Walt Keller at any of the work parties at any of the athletic fields during construction or maintenance at either of the original Little League fields at the lagoon site, the move to Bluffs Park or the two temporary playing fields for Pony baseball at Malibu High School. All of these facilities were built with volunteer labor and donated funds from Kiwanis, Lions, Rotary and the Bay Company. Yes, Walt. The Malibu Bay Company!
