Pepperdine women’s soccer team lost, 0-1, against Saint Mary’s on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 30. The game marked the end of the Waves’ five consecutive wins in West Coast Conference play.

According to Pepperdine Athletics, the St. Mary’s Gaels made the shot during a penalty kick in the first half.

Pepperdine’s Brielle Preece and Maleah Milner made a combined total of five saves; while 17 shot attempts were made, none of them stuck.

In an online statement, Waves Coach Tim Ward said, in part, “We just lacked some composure. All of our strikers had at least one good opportunity. It was just one of those days, and it was tough.”

The Waves will next be playing against San Francisco and Santa Clara, on Oct. 5 and 7 respectively.
