Malibu Celebrates a Year of Music, Movie Magic and Fundraising
From Malibu’s marvelous musical celebrations to the year’s best benefits, Malibu Seen was in full force. At the Malibu Playhouse, the new take on the old favorite “It’s a Wonderful Life” was described by many of its fans as a delight. Many theater goers loved the new take on the classic holiday favorite.
Over at the Music Center, Malibu’s reigning man of music Marc Stern and his wife Eva were in full swing and full of fun at opening night, and seemed to be having the time of their lives. And why not? The Sterns are, after all, one of the center’s largest benefactors of recent times.
Other classical fans sashayed their way to the elegant confines of Walt Disney Concert Hall for an all-Beethoven program. The highlight was the maestro’s “Ode to Joy,” featuring the Los Angeles Master Chorale. Glittering confetti closed the show, as well as an enthusiastic standing ovation. Party goers moved to the tented party palace set up on Grand Avenue, which was set up like an old world Viennese palace. The men were suave in their freshly pressed tuxes and the ladies dazzled in their couture gowns, crystal bodices and gems. Bravo!
Local songbird Barbara Streisand was lauded for her generous donation to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Operation Smile Angels Roma Downey and Mark Burnett turned frowns upside down around the world. These were just a few of our local elves. They’ve changed the way the world looks, and look for more in 2016!
