Just over two months after the discovery of a partially decomposed body at Malibu Bluffs Park, sheriff’s officials announced Tuesday they had made an arrest in the case.
“On Jan. 30, 2018, a deceased person was found in the open space west of Bluffs Park in the city of Malibu. The victim was identified as a local homeless man,” described Lt. James Royal of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station in a statement provided to The Malibu Times.Â
“On April 9, 2018, LA County Sheriff’s Department homicide investigators arrested a 39-year-old homeless man in the death,” Royal’s statement continued. “Eduardo Ray Nunez was arrested by investigators at approximately 2 p.m. He was subsequently charged with murder.
“The suspect is being held at the Malibu/Lost Hills Station Jail with a $2 million bail,” Royal said.
Officials were not able to provide any identification for the victim, though earlier reports stated the victim was a male. There was also no information regarding his cause of death.
The investigation was still ongoing—anyone with information about the case was asked to contact the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station at 818.878.1808.
