The largest pumpkin in North America squashes its competition at over 2,000 pounds!
Gene McMullen of Streator, Ill. grew a record-breaking, 2,145-pound pumpkin in 93 days. He won this year’s Great Pumpkin Commonwealth Competition at the Wine & Harvest Festival in Cedarburg, Wis.
Then, two weeks later, another colossal pumpkin arrived at the scales.
In nature there’s always a surprise.
A new North American heavy weight was just declared at the Southern New England Giant Pumpkin Grower’s Competition, weighing-in at an astounding 2,230 pounds. Ron Wallace of Greene, R.I, grew the nearly six-foot wide gigantic gourd.
These two heavy weight champion pumpkins are featured this weekend at the New York Botanical Gardens in the Bronx.
Loving nature is the solution. Happy Halloween.
