Volunteers at Izzy’s Donation Center

Izzy’s Donation Center, a “free store” for Woolsey Fire victims located in the Malibu Lumber Yard above Café Habana, celebrated an open house over the weekend, featuring a catered spread provided by Smokin’ BarBQuties. The free shop, stocked with donations that poured in from the community after the fire, was established by the Soderqvist family—mom Neda and kids Sebastian and Isabella. A team of volunteers operates the shop, which daily manager Maggie Luckerath described as the “last up-and-running ‘free store’ for fire victims, to [her] knowledge.” Recently, Izzy’s Donation Center welcomed Roots and Wings, a branch of the Malibu Foundation, to share its space. Roots and Wings offers mental and emotional support to those recovering from the traumatic events during and after the Woolsey Fire, and announced Monday it had plenty of room to offer services to more community members in need.

Izzy’s Donation Center was no longer accepting donations as of Monday, Feb. 11.
