The Boys & Girls Club of Malibu (BGCM) has named Malibu High School sophomore Amy Jimenez as its 2018 Youth of the Year. Jimenez will receive a $1,000 scholarship and participate in the Los Angeles County Youth of the Year event —22 student members from the area will be in attendance.
Jimenez has been a BGCM member since seventh grade and has logged more than 200 volunteer hours. She has been selected to attend a community service trip to Soweto, South Africa, on behalf of the club.
Other candidates for the 2018 Youth of the Year included Travis Springer, Kelly Alvarez, Sabrina Carey, Emely Torio, Axel Romero and Josue Garcia. The decision was made by a judging panel of notable Malibu community members.
