Malibu High School eighth-grader Jaime Le raised $10,000 for children in need in Kenya after hosting a benefit at Pepperdine on Sept. 30. The Baxter Benefit BBQ and Bazaar drew hundreds of people from the Malibu and Pepperdine communities to help Le raise the money for Made in the Streets (MITS), a nonprofit organization working in Nairobi to help homeless children living on the streets. The funds will be used to provide children living at MITS with a Christmas party and gifts, as well as a trip home for some students.

Le became inspired by the cause after spending two weeks living and working with children in Nairobi through MITS. He worked with a team of 13 other Malibu students and six adults in a group organized by the University Church of Christ at Pepperdine. The team was responsible for organizing a soccer clinic and vacation bible school while there.
