Malibu Resident Earns his Wings

Colonel James Sears Jr. hands Malibu native Lieutenant John Ottusch V his fixed wing pilot’s certificate.

Malibu native, 2d Lieutenant John Ottusch V, was awarded his wings as an officer in the United States Air Force in January. After graduating from the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., in 2012, Lt. Ottusch passed Initial Flight School, and then underwent a year of undergraduate pilot training in military flying programs. He will learn to fly his top jet of choice, the KC-135 Stratotanker, in Okla., with his permanent assignment base at MacDill AFB in Tampa, Fla.

Lt. Ottusch is the son of Malibu residents Dr. John and Sonia Ottusch. He attended Malibu public schools and graduated from Malibu High School.
