Oaks Christian High School junior Blake Bryan led a group of students to organize and host the first TEDxOaksChristianSchool event. The five-hour program featured eight nationally known speakers. The students worked with the TED organization, OCS director of student services, Laura Mason, and previous TEDx speaker, Shelene Bryan.
Speakers included New York Times best-selling author, Karen Kingsbury, America’s Got Talent’s Collins Key, Invisible People Founder Mark Horvath and FarmVille creator Sizha “Zao” Yang. TedxOaksChristianSchool student leader Bryanna Mason explained that they hand-picked speakers they thought students would enjoy. The event was considered a success and students are planning on making it an annual occurrence.
