Brunch launch a success

A few weeks ago you ran an article evaluating all the different coffee houses in Malibu. In addition to great coffee and attitude, Diedrich Coffee gives back to the community. I wanted to say thank you and let others in town know of our coffee house’s generosity. Along with six other women, we recently held a brunch to launch H.E.A.R.T. (Helping Ease Abuse Related Trauma), an auxiliary support group of women, which each year will help raise $100,000 in support of the Violence Intervention Program. Donations allow a rape victim to leave the clinic in new underwear and sweatpants, and ensures immediate shelter and clothing for a mother and child fleeing a violent home as well as many other needs and necessities not traditionally funded by other sources.

With the invitation to the event and information on the program, Mike Miller, Diedrich’s general manager, provided all the coffee, muffins and scones for the 80 women who attended the launch. It was not just the giving of the coffee and food for which we were so grateful. It was the giving attitude of everyone inside Diedrich. Rebecca, Rob, Rita, Loren and Erin each helped and wanted to be part of the event. Their warmth and smiles are not new. In fact, it is the great crew of barristas at Diedrich that creates the loyal following. I wanted to say thank you to everyone at Diedrich who contributed their energy and time for the event but also thank you all (Danielle, Bourke, Cori, Jonathan and TJ too!), for your warmth, service and smiles each and every morning regardless of how busy or grumpy your patrons are in the a.m.
