Both the Pepperdine men’s and women’s tennis teams dominated on the courts this past weekend, March 26-27.
The No. 11 women’s team opened West Coast Conference (WCC) play on a high note with a 6-1 victory against Loyola Marymount at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center. The Waves gained two quick victories to secure the doubles point and continued their winning ways in the singles competition. Sophomore Laura Gulbe, freshman Dzina Milovanovic, senior Michaela Capannolo, junior Apichaya Runglerdkriangkrai and freshman Luisa Stefani all scored singles points to defeat the Lions.
The men’s team competed across the country this past weekend at the University of South Florida (USF) Quad Tourney. After opening the tournament with a tough 4-0 loss to USF on Friday, the Waves bounced back to win the rest of the weekend’s matches by a wide margin.
In Saturday’s match against Florida Atlantic, the Waves picked up the doubles point and all but one singles match to defeat Florida Atlantic 5-1. On Sunday, the team came back from losing the doubles point and swept the singles competition for a 6-1 victory over North Florida.
