[Updated: Boy Has Been Found] Autistic Boy Missing in Western Malibu

Update: [7:04 p.m.] The child has been found safe and unharmed.

Sheriffs report the child wandered approximately 175 yards down the canyon, where air units found him.

“Our air units spotted him and our rescue team repelled down to him and got him,” Sgt. Wright said. “He is not harmed.”

Wright added that sheriffs believe the boy wandered away by himself and there was no foul play involved.


Sheriffs are looking for an autistic 14 year old boy who wandered away from a house on Anacapa in Western ‪Malibu

The Malibu Search and Rescue Team has been deployed as have air units, according to sheriffs.

Unconfirmed reports state the boy was seen wearing black sweatpants and a gray shirt, with socks and no shoes. These reports also state the boy does not have speech capacity.

Please report any information you may have to the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Department.

“Because there’s an autistic factor involved, we call that a critical missing,” said Sgt. Wright with the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriffs Station. “Our Search and Rescue Team has been paged out. We’ve requested an air unit. We’re searching for this lost child and of course we’re hoping that the child is in the area and that we will find him.”
