Oaks Christian High School sophomore Zack Bornstein competed at the USA Track & Field Junior Olympic National Championships on July 26 and 27 in Wichita, Kan.
Bornstein plays football and runs track for Oaks Christian. He recently claimed victory in the USATF Region 15 Qualifier in the decathlon with 6,263 points and achieved personal bests in seven of the 10 decathlon events.
Bornstein is aiming to score more than 6,500 points in the national championships.
Next year, Bornstein hopes to reach 7,500 points, which would place him in medal contention at the Junior World Championships next summer in Barcelona, Spain.
