Update: 4:30 p.m.: Pacific Coast Highway has reopened in both directions.

Update: 3:50 p.m.: Pacific Coast Highway reopened with one lane of traffic in each direction on Wednesday afternoon, about eight hours after a multi-vehicle crash shut down the roadway completely in each direction between Kanan Dume Road and Via Escondido.

The morning crash resulted in one fatality.

Pacific Coast Highway was closed in both directions for the bulk of the day from Winding Way to Meadows Court Wednesday following a four-car crash that left one person dead.

The multi-vehicle collision occurred at about 7:55 a.m. Wednesday near Geoffrey’s on Pacific Coast Highway, after a suspect driving a stolen car veered off the road.

According to KTLA, the driver of the stolen vehicle was being pursued by authorities from the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station when the collision occurred.

The driver of the vehicle was not immediately reported to be the deceased party, and according to KTLA was airlifted to a nearby hospital.

The crash also ignited a small brush fire that has since been suppressed.

According to KBU News, it was a pedestrian who was killed due to the collision.

This story will be updated when PCH reopens or more information is available.
