Voting mess.

I have been a Malibu resident for over 14 years. During that time I have voted in nearly every election. I voted in the October recall election. So you can imagine my surprise when I went to the polls yesterday to find that my name had been removed from the roster. Not only had my name been removed but a name I did not recognize was listed at my current address.

When I checked to see if I was listed by mistake at the address I had two years ago I found that a woman who is not a California resident and does not live at my old address was listed as the registered voter. When I mentioned this I was informed that only a relative could remove her name from the roster.

I was given a “provisional” ballot.

Today I called Sacramento to find out what was going on and they assured me that I was listed as a registered voter and even read back my current and previous addresses along with my P.O. Box number.

All this and there weren’t even any hanging chads.
