Surfers from all over the world gathered at Surfrider Beach for the 2019 Relik Longboard World Tour on June 22-23.
In total, 48 men and women competed for the title of champion as well as prize money over the weekend. The men’s and women’s categories each had a first- and second-place winner, with prize money totaling $100,000 for the Malibu competition.
The first-place winner in the women’s division was Soleil Errico, while the men’s division winner was Taylor Jensen. Jensen was also the 2018 Relik Longboard World Tour champion.
The pool of competitors came from: the 2018 Relik World Tour top eight finishers, the open qualifier judges’ picks and the open qualifier global picks. The global picks were selected through a video submission contest, for which fans near and abroad voted in their favorite surfers.
Relik launched its surfing event in October 2017, per its website. Fifty longboard surfers gathered to compete—with a prize of $150,000.
The tour will next hold a longboard competition at Lower Trestles, located near San Clemente, Calif.
