Local barefoot runner Alberto Perusset ran the sixth annual Extraterrestrial Full Moon Midnight Marathon in Death Valley Aug. 5, becoming the first person to complete the race barefoot. He completed the 26.2-mile course in five hours and 17 minutes.

The midnight race was Perusset’s 22nd barefoot marathon and 61st overall. Next, he plans to compete in a triple marathon in Lake Tahoe.

Perusset is one of the directors of the Malibu Marathon, which is slated to take place this November.
