The Malibu High School Theatre Department concludes the four-day run of its spring production today with a 2 p.m. performance of “His Dark Materials.”
The play is adapted to the stage from a trilogy of fantasy novels—”The Golden Compass,” “The Subtle Knife” and “The Amber Spyglass”—by writer Philip Pullman. “The Golden Compass was adapted to screen in a 2007 film starring Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig.
“The trilogy takes its overall title from Book One of John Milton’s epic Paradise Lost. At its simplest it is a story of courage and humanity about a boy and a girl with a destiny to fulfill. It is a magnificent tale, rich in incident and character that explores the biggest questions of them all – existence, childhood, innocence, knowledge, grace, death and, last but by no means least, that of love,” according to the Malibu High School website.
Reserved seats for His Dark Materials are $20 for adults and $15 for students/seniors and can be purchased online using the “Buy Tickets Now” button above.
For at the door ticket sales, cash or check are requested. Food and drinks are available for purchase. The play began Thursday and ran through the weekend.
