With a vote of 4-1, the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy board on Wednesday approved the Malibu Public Access Enhancement Plan-Public Works Plan. Linda Parks, a county supervisor from Ventura, was the only board member to vote against the proposal, saying she was concerned about the fire risks from overnight camping. The project, which calls for the creation of trails and camping grounds in three Malibu Parks (Ramirez Canyon, Escondido Canyon and Corral Canyon), will go before the California Coastal Commission for final approval sometime next year. The Malibu City Council does not get to vote on the proposal.
