The California Department of Transportation has opened two lanes in each direction on Pacific Coast Highway. One lane in each direction had been closed near Big Rock since Saturday because of a waterline break and subsequent repairs.
In order to provide four traffic lanes, the bike lane and median are being used while repair work continues. A temporary bike lane and pedestrian walkway on the eastbound side has also been created.
Caltrans officials say that construction will completed and lanes will be fully restored by the middle of next week.
