An image of the UCLA class ring from 1966 when found after more than 40 years on the ocean floor.

While spear fishing at County Line Beach the Sunday before last, free diver Cody Lightfoot found a UCLA class ring from 1966 on the ocean floor in about 10 feet of water. Lightfoot managed to track down the owner, a San Diego resident who said he had lost the ring in the 1960s while surfing. Considering that the ring has been under water for more than 40 years, Lightfoot’s father, a jeweler, said it was in “very good shape” and polished it. Lightfoot returned the ring to its original owner last weekend.
