Daniel Archuleta, the managing editor of the Santa Monica Daily Press, died on Wednesday of last week at his home in El Sereno. He was 38.

Archuleta worked at the Daily Press for seven years. A remembrance from the Daily Press described him as a “jack of all trades” for the paper whose laugh was unforgettable. He helped with the paper’s daily production, covered Santa Monica sports and took photos.

“He told great stories about big Samohi basketball wins and did spot-on impersonations of local politicians,” the paper wrote.

“Daniel’s work touched everyone, whether they knew it or not,” publisher Ross Furukawa said. “He was a pro, and helped us craft news into sharable, repeatable stories.”

He is survived by his wife, Gali, and their two daughters, Lila and Gaby.

A cause of death has not been made public. A fund has been set up to assist his family: https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/cp6Eb#sthash.NZE5TG3P.dpuf
