Malibu’s city council will go behind closed doors this afternoon to discuss the job performance of city manager Reva Feldman.

The Caltrans project to install a simple curb in the middle of the Pacific Coast Highway … and that stretched into a 10-month ordeal … appears to be over.  The road has been restriped now for the fourth time in a year.  Details:  https://www.radiomalibu.net/caltrans-restripes-chers-hill/

In news from over the hill … the perennial traffic jam on Kanan Dume Road at the 101 Freeway is getting attention from the City of Agoura Hills and County of Ventura.  Tyhe study will come out AFTER the city council decides on multi-story hotels and condos on Kanan at the two-lane gateway to the Malibu parklands. https://www.radiomalibu.net/agoura-hills-to-examine-kanan/

And in news from down the coast … the Santa Monica City Council is considering a ban on tiny studio apartments.

A dead whale has washed up at County Line Beach in western Malibu.

And a second whale has been spotted just up the coast … apparently entangled in a buoy.

That whale was spotted at 2:30 yesterday afternoon swimming near the Channel Islands Harbor … 20 miles up the coast from Malibu.

The Coast Guard sent out one boat from Channel Islands Harbor ….according to the Ventura County Star.

The Coast Guard is consulting with federal wildlife experts on that problem.

In western Malibu … reports of the dead whale … having washed up … were called in to the California Highway Patrol at just after 3 in the morning … according to L A T V station NBC4.

The whale has signs of some sort of trauma … and is decomposing.

And that means it is stinking.

No word yet on how the carcass will be handled.

The Channel Islands Marine and Mammal Center plans to examine the remains today. 

Grey whale migration season peaks at this time of the year.

Malibu’s Rotary Club continues to funnel donations to victims of the Woolsey Fire.

Both the local Rotary Club and the Rotary District Charitable Fund will be presenting a 15 thousand dollar check today … to the Malibu Boys & Girls Club Malibu-Disaster Relief Fund.

The Boys and Girls Club has been running an audited relief effort for victims of the Woolsey Fire.

The lifeguards say the waves today are   ((((  3-5  )))) feet high ….

Poor surfing conditions …. according to the lifeguards.

A mediocre high tide is at 2:13 this afternoon.

And another low tide hits at 7:10 tonight.     ))))
