SMMUSD Elects New President, Vice President

At its meeting on Dec. 14, Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District elected Dr. Richard Tahvildaran-Jesswein and Jon Kean as president and vice president, respectively. 

Former SMMUSD president Laurie Lieberman served as SMMUSD president for three years. 

“I am honored to have been chosen by my colleagues to represent the board as we all continue the good work of our district,” Dr. Tahvildaran-Jesswein said in an emailed statement from the school district. “And, I’m particularly excited to support our superintendent as he and our academic team make substantive progress toward realizing our district mission, vision and goals.”

The appointments were effective immediately.
