The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to a quarter-acre brush fire on the 2600 block of Rambla Pacifico, two miles north of Pacific Coast Highway, on Monday afternoon, Dec. 18.

According to a spokesperson for the department, a call regarding the fire came in at 3:16 p.m. It was initially categorized as a second alarm fire. Twenty minutes later, the firefighters were able to stop the fire’s forward progress and build a line around the fire.

During the “initial size-up,” one structure was thought to be threatened but the spokesperson confirmed that no structures were threatened.

While all lanes of PCH remained open, Rambla Pacifico was closed for a short period of time for clean up.

This was the second small fire the LACo Fire Department successful stopped from spreading in Malibu in as many weeks. Dry, windy conditions continued across the Malibu area throughout the week and were expected to continue into the weekend.
