Longtime community publishers Karen and Arnold York are planning to retire … after 31 years of putting out the Malibu Times newspaper.
They’ve been quietly shopping it around in newspaper circles for several months … Arnold York says.
But they would rather sell it to somebody in the community … with community ties.
We taped an interview with Arnold last night … but he has such a terrible cold it’s not really fair to use it.
The Yorks our community institution in Malibu.
They created the dolphin awards … they helped create the Malibu film Society.
And they fostered a sense of civility in a seaside city where competing interests often lead to in civil behavior.

The National Weather Service has posted a high surf advisory for monster waves to arrive overnight and tomorrow.
The surf will peak late tonight and Friday at 5 to 8 feet with local sets to 10 feet.
High astronomical tides between 6 and 6.5 feet during the late morning hours could allow for minor coastal flooding, mainly TOMORROW.
