Artist Rachel Rubenstein’s piece “Colorscape” was on display at Malibu Living’s “End of Summer Art Party.”

The Point Dume courtyard was bustling on Saturday afternoon during the “End of Summer Art Party” at Malibu Living, a satellite real estate office of Malibu West Coldwell Banker owned by Bill Chadwick that offers visitor and local information.

The evening featured a showcase of artwork from local art dealer Brekelle Lavee Long, owner of Flower & Hewes Contemporary Fine and Modern Art Gallery, which includes work from artists Thomas Frontini, Walter Redondo, Doug Henders, Hessam Abrishami, Goli Mahallati, Behrooz Viliani and Robin Branham. The gallery also includes work from local artist Rachel Rubenstein, whose work has been on display at Malibu Living since it opened its doors in May.

“Malibu Living has provided a space for locals and guests to form community, and you could really feel that on Saturday,” Rubenstein shared. “I sold one piece on Saturday and sold two other pieces at the opening reception on May 28, including ‘Colorscape,’ a mosaic of dried paint from my palettes over the last five years. It’s a very special piece because I’ve sold close to 100 pieces of art and almost all of them are represented in this piece.”

Light hors d’oeuvre and spirits were served while guests checked out the artwork and listened to music performed by local musician Dylan Brosnan and three musical groups. Brosnan has performed at many local events with his band Nautilus, including Compassion Rocks, a fundraiser for animal welfare legislation. It was standing room only as a compilation of three musical groups — Nautilus, Anehola and Tyler Piatt, all accompanied by drummer Trapper Piatt.

Part of the proceeds from the evening will benefit the Malibu Boys & Girls Clubs.

“Please stop by Malibu Living to see the amazing art on the walls and join us for our future art and music event,” Malibu Living’s Aubrey Coles said.

All are welcome to attend Malibu Living events, celebrating the arts and our community.
