The Malibu Search and Rescue (SAR) Team worked with the L.A. County Fire Dept. to rescue an injured hiker at Malibu Creek State Park around noontime. The climber, a woman in her 20s, suffered a broken leg after falling and striking a rock face, according to SAR spokesman David Katz.
She was found in the gorge area of the park, frequented by hikers because of its bouldering and rock face features.
The Malibu SAR team deployed the team boat to ferry rescue personnel while L.A. County Fire Dept. packaged the woman. She was air-lifted by helicopter for transport to a local hospital for treatment.
The rescue operation lasted about two hours, Katz said.
Video footage of the rescue is available on The Malibu Times Instagram.
