Pepperdine tennis takes down Oklahoma

Sebastian Fanselow helped take the Waves to a 4-3 win over the Sooners.

The 11th ranked Pepperdine University Waves tennis team defeated number 10 Oklahoma Sooners 4-3 on Saturday afternoon. It was the Waves’ first win over a top 10 team this season.

“The guys showed so much heart today playing against a great team,” head coach Adam Steinberg said. “This is a match we wanted and it’s what we have been working so hard for. I’m very happy for the team today.”

Senior Sebastian Fanselow came through for the Waves, earning a three-set victory to clinch the dual. Additionally, Mousheg Hovhannisyan and David Sofaer won their fourth straight with a decisive 8-3 triumph.

The Waves continue West Coast Conference action with duals at San Francisco on March 29 and Santa Clara on March 30.
