Malibu High freshman picked for national football team

Malibu High freshman Alec Stevenson has been selected for the 2013 Under-16 U.S. National Development Team.

Local football player Alec Stevenson has been chosen to join the 2013 Under- 16 U.S. National Development Team. The team will compete at the USA Football Development Games, hosted by The University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth, in North Dartmouth, Mass. in July.

To make the team, Stevenson participated in a regional combine at Oaks Christian School March 9-10 with more than 150 youth athletes from three states. He was one of only 10 freshman linebackers from the western United States to make the team. He was selected based on his football skills, leadership and character.

Stevenson, a freshman at Malibu High School, began playing football for the Santa Monica Vikings when he was eight years old. He also plays baseball for MHS.
