Malibu residents are being misled into believing that if we don’t approve Measure M, we won’t have development, when in fact the opposite is true. If M isn’t approved by the voters, the Bay Company will be able to build on a dozen pieces of land they own totaling more than 100 acres. The Bay Company already has applications into the city and intends to build much more than they can develop under Measure M, where over 40 acres are preserved as permanent open space.
Additional buildings will be the result of opposition to M. Let’s not forget what happened with the Trancas fields. We all suffered when the Malibu Coalition for Slow Growth (the same people fighting Measure M) induced the city to deny the owner of the Trancas fields the right to execute his agreement to build six homes on the lot. The owner went to court and enforced his original zoning and built 38 condominiums instead. Don’t let the same thing happen again. Vote “yes” on M.
