RE: Pam Linn’s 1/26/06 article “Thou shalt render unto Darwin…”
As a Christian who simultaneously finds no problem in believing in evolution as well as that God created the world, I find your article smug, sarcastic, arrogant and stereotypical. You act as if Darwin’s theory of evolution has tied everything up with a neat little bow and there in no room for God. No more mysteries to discover, no more questions to be answered and certainly no other theories to be taught. Case closed.
You conclude people that don’t agree with you believe in a “Babylonian fairy tale.” Since the creation of the universe is obviously settled science for you, please explain the following. The one agreed upon scientific explanation for the creation of the universe. What was the universe created from? Prior to this creation of the universe, was there matter or nothing? Is there a God? Because if there isn’t, then obviously God had nothing to do with the creation. But, if there is a God, then you, as a truth seeker, should be open to teaching people about that possibility.
If you can’t answer these scientific questions, then you must be willing to finish the sentence you yourself started when you created the article’s title. Namely: “Thou shalt render unto Darwin what is Darwin’s, and unto God what is God’s.”
