Dotty Jean Giordano

Longtime Malibu resident Dotty Jean Giordano passed away Nov. 22 after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. She passed peacefully while in her home surrounded by family.

Dotty was born in Buffalo, Mo. on Jan. 28, 1929. She was the second-oldest of four girls. At the age of two, her family moved to Los Angeles. Dotty married Anthony (Tony) Giordano on June 4, 1949 and started their family in August 1950.

Throughout the years, Dotty loved working with Tony on building projects where she would draw architectural plans, help manage the building projects and lend her keen eye to decorating decisions. Her creative nature also came out in her various craft projects and as an exceptional cook.

In 1982, the family moved to Malibu and Dotty partnered with her husband in selling real estate for the next 30 years. Her family said she was an excellent role model with her quiet confidence, strong work ethic, positive and giving nature, interest in learning and great sense of humor.

Dotty was always interested in others, proud of their accomplishments and supportive during challenging times, her family recalled. She showered her family and friends with continuous love and affection throughout her life.

“Dotty was an outstanding person loved by family and many friends,” a family member said. Dotty is survived by her husband of 64 years, Anthony Giordano; son Scott and wife Pat; son Jeff and wife Cathy; daughter Jody, granddaughter Jenna and grandson Nick, wife Tara and great grandchildren, Maya, Josh and Cora.
