During the early 1920s, my aunt, a known artist, was painting the Malibu Lagoon a short distance from the Rindge beach home when a private patrol officer asked her to move as she was on private property.

My aunt’s watercolor of the lagoon and beachfront homes in the colony were only three in number and spaced somewhat apart. The lagoon looks the same in the watercolor and is an early reminder how the colony started so simply. Why would any group want to destroy this natural area?
