Malibu Misdeeds Crime Report: April 17-21

The following crimes were reported in Malibu between April 17 and April 21. 

4/17

Distracted by burritos

-A petty theft occurred at Chipotle where an Adidas sweatshirt and a Toyota Prius car key were stolen.

4/18

String of burglaries

-At Point Dume State Beach, a “Denerke” time code slate worth $1,250 was stolen from the victim.

-A burglary took place at 23410 Civic Center Way, however, the officers were told not to go in the store or fingerprint the location because of a corporate office policy.

-The Starbucks on Cross Creek Road had a grand theft in an unlocked vehicle where items were stolen. The items stolen included a black Lenovo laptop ($1,200), a black laptop bag, a J. Crew gray leather hobo purse ($300), two silver diamond stud earrings ($250), two silver pearl stud earrings ($250) and a gray suitcase.

Expensive losses

-On Grayfox Road, a burglary yielded several stolen items, including a full silver Christofle tableware set ($25,000), an iPad mini ($400), a mink fur dark brown trench coat ($12,000), a mink light brown fur coat ($8,000) and a mink fur brown jacket ($8,000). A window frame and latch were damaged.

Wiring fiend

-Several items were stolen from the Tapia Reclamation Facility. Those items include: three 500-foot strands of #6 gauge copper wire ($300 each), ten 500-foot strands of #10 gauge copper wire wrapped in black sheathing ($1,000), one 500-foot strand of #2 gauge miscellaneous copper wire and 2 I/O gauge black sheathed cables containing 50 feet of copper wire.

Sour seafood experience

-A car at Malibu Seafood was burglarized. A blue Novation bass station electric keyboard ($500) was stolen and the rear passenger window of the vehicle was damaged.
