The first annual Paw-A-Thon for families and pets took place Sunday at Legacy Park.
The event started when local teen Jessica Gilbertson decided to do something to help animals in need. She then came up with the idea to put on an event to raise money and awareness on spaying and neutering animals. Gilbertson then joined forces with the Boys and Girls Club of Malibu’s Torch Club and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) to organize the Paw-A-Thon.
The event that included face painting, musical performances, pet competitions, raffle prizes and other festivities. The event was made possible by Torch Club members, club parents, and community volunteers.
