After nine seasons at Pepperdine University, Julie Rousseau resigned Wednesday as coach of the women’s basketball team.

Under Rousseau, Pepperdine went 123-144, including winning records between 2009-2011, and reached the postseason three times. In 2009-10 the team won 20 games, the most during her tenure, and the Waves made the first of two straight WNIT appearances. The team struggled on the court last season, though, finishing with a 5-23 record.

In a statement issued Wednesday, Rousseau said she was leaving the school on positive terms.

I greatly appreciate the camaraderie we built and that I enjoyed here every day,” she said. “Among my proudest accomplishments is the highly competitive schedule we maintained for multiple years, defeating some of the top programs in the nation. But most importantly, I will cherish the opportunities that we had to assist in our student-athletes’ success not just on the court, but in academics and other areas unmeasured by box scores.”

The search for the team’s next coach is under way, school officials said.
