At its July 18 meeting, the Malibu Rotary Club heard from speaker Mike Hebert, who discussed his recent experience helping distribute polio vaccine in India. Hebert is the owner of the Postal Annex in the Trancas Center in Malibu and a member of the Rotary Club of Thousand Oaks.
Hebert’s India trip was part of Rotary Club’s National Immunization day, where volunteers help give polio vaccine to children in need. While his daughter was already in India doing work for women’s rights, Hebert brought along his niece and wife to volunteer as well. Hebert told the Malibu club he wanted to be part of the effort to eradicate polio in the world, and wanted hands-on experience doing it.
