Shedding light on the numbers

This is in response to the July 20 letter taking issue with my assertion that the proposed 70-foot permanent light poles [at Malibu High School] would have four 12 foot standards with 48 1,500 megawatts each, mea culpa.

In fact, the proposal calls for four 12.3 foot light standards with 1,500 watts each for a total of 72,000 watts.

My apologies for the error. However, the point remains that the proposed plans reflects an over the top plan for permanent lights for a school with less than 1,200 students in grades six through 12 (and which would result in a major assault on the dark skies and natural beauty of West Malibu).
