Audience members will watch performances by members of the Malibu Coast Chamber Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Hollywood Bowl orchestra and key members of the prestigious New York City Ballet against the backdrop of an iconic Malibu coastline at the city’s first ever Concert on the Bluffs on June 12.
The event is not just an inaugural outdoor concert, but also the most ambitious and expensive public arts project the city has ever undertaken. Last year, the Malibu Cultural Arts Commission was given a $45,000 grant to be put toward the concert as part of their task to enrich the community with public art. A portion of proceeds will benefit arts in education programs.
A 29-piece orchestra will present a range of music, from classical to pop to film, in a program that will appeal to all ages. Special performers include former Malibu High School student and New York City Ballet member Indiana Woodward, composers Marco Beltrami, Maria Newman and Trevor Rabin and conductor Scott Hosfeld.
General admission tickets are priced at $25 for the general public and $15 for students and seniors. Children five and under are free. Audience members are invited to bring picnic blankets, baskets and beach chairs. For more information and to purchase tickets, click here.
