Malibu’s U12 beach soccer team, the Brazil Stars, took to the sand to win back-to-back championships in the Copa Cabana Beach Soccer tournament series. The first tournament took place at Zuma Beach in Malibu and the second took place in Oxnard.
Unlike regular soccer, beach soccer is played on sand and follows a five-on-five format.
“Beach soccer is a fast-paced fun game that the kids really enjoy,” parent Sheri Swist said. “It’s great training for regular soccer and provides a strong conditioning foundation.”
Eight players from Malibu travelled to the Oxnard tournament, where they swept the first three games and fought a challenging battle against Ventura in the championship match. The game went back and forth goal for goal, with Quinn Walker, Finn Coben and Cameron Swist all contributing goals for Malibu.
